Postdoctoral position (2 years) in innate immunity – Umeå University (MIMS) : Umeå, Sweden

We are looking for a post doctor in Innate Immunity to the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) , Group Nelson Gekara (http://www.mims.umu.se/groups/nelson-gekara.html). The position will be placed at The Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University.
The position is full time for two years with start 2016-03-31 or as agreed.
Project description – mechanisms of innate immune regulation during infection and inflammation

We are interested in understanding the mechanisms that govern the regulation of pattern recognition receptor signaling pathways and how the breakdown of such regulation influences the outcome of infectious or inflammatory diseases (http://www.mims.umu.se/groups/nelson-gekara.html). Recently we have identified a number of new signaling molecules involved in the regulation of the innate immune system (e.g. Panda S, Nilsson JA, Gekara NO. Immunity. 2015 Oct 20;43(4):647-59; Härtlova A, et al., Immunity. 2015 Feb 17;42(2):332-43).
The goal of this project is to investigate their molecular mechanisms during infection and inflammation.

Qualifications
You have a Ph.D. exam in immunology, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology or related fields at the time of recruitment. You are proficient in spoken and written English and have good communication skills.

Desirable qualifications
Expertise in microbial-host interactions is a merit as well as proficiency in cell culture, transfections, lentiviral /retroviral approaches for gene manipulation, immunoprecipitations, western blotting, ELISA, RT-qPCR and other cell/molecular biology techniques is required.
