Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine/Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM)
Division
The Department of Medicine at Huddinge comprises seven units, three research centers and, around 70 independent research groups. Our ambition is to be a leading department within medical research and education.
The Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM) is a research unit within the Department of Medicine Huddinge. The research at CIM is focused around translational studies of the human immune system and infection-immunity in humans. CIM has since its inauguration in 2002 rapidly grown and gained national and international recognition. The vision is to become one of the leading translational research centers within immunity and infectious diseases in Europe.
Duties
Hantaviruses causes two severe acute diseases, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), for which no specific treatment exist. HFRS and HPS are believed to be immune-mediated diseases, but little is known regarding mechanisms behind pathogenesis.
We are seeking two highly motivated and enthusiastic persons with strong backgrounds in molecular and/or cellular inflammation and immunology to join the group of Jonas Klingström as Postdoctoral fellows to work within a larger translational research project whose overall objective is to study the mechanisms of hantavirus-mediated deregulation of apoptosis, inflammation and immune responses and the effect this have for pathogenesis during human hantavirus-infection.
