摘要:

Two postdoc and one assistant professor for research in genome maintenance pathways in the Sørensen Group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen

Postdoc positions are open in Claus Storgaard Sørensen’s group for highly motivated researchers with a desire to investigate key genome maintenance pathways in mammalian cells.

Our research/The group
The goal of our studies is to understand the mechanisms responsible for maintenance of genomic stability in mammalian cells with a particular focus on disease relevant pathways (see the following publications from this year, pubmed IDs: 26555168; 25953507; 25772361; 25557911). Our group consists of ten dedicated researchers, and we have excellent research facilities in modern laboratories. We offer excellent working conditions with exciting possibilities in a young, dynamic and international research environment. More information on the Sørensen group on http://www.bric.ku.dk/research/Sorensen_Group/

The research projects

Assistant professor: The assistant professor will develop a new method to detect DNA double strand breaks, the most lethal genotoxic lesion. This is based on recent findings in our team and involves structural analysis of new DNA double strand end binding probes. Furthermore, the assistant professor will participate in structural analysis of new genome maintenance proteins in collaboration with other members in the team. This second part also involves in vitro interaction and activity assays.

Specific qualifications: Documented experience in structural biochemistry including protein purification and structural analysis of proteins.

Start: Preferably early 2016 or after agreement

Duration: 2 years

Postdoc 1: The postdoc will identify new epigenetic targets in Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL) with focus synthetic lethal interactions. The project is a close collaboration with clinical NHL researchers from Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen. We use RNA interference screening in NHL cell lines followed by CRISPR/Cas9 targeting to identify and characterize putative new targets. Two already identified lead targets will serve as initial focus for characterization.

Specific qualifications: Documented experience cell biology and biochemistry, including siRNA depletion CRISPT/Cas9 deletion, mutagenesis and immunoblotting, confocal microscopy.

Start: Preferably early 2016 or after agreement

Duration: 2 years

Postdoc 2: The postdoc will characterize a novel epigenetic genome maintenance pathway recently identified in our team. This project will include RNA and ChIP sequencing as well as proteomic approaches. In a parallel approach, the post doc will dissect the biological role of this new pathway.
Specific qualifications: Documented experience cell biology and biochemistry with focus on epigenetic analysis, including ChIP and histone modification analysis.

Start: Preferably early 2016 or after agreement

Duration: 22 months

NB: In your letter of motivation, please state clearly which of the three positions you are applying for.

General qualifications
We expect you to be a documented highly motivated, skilled, and highly ambitious scientist with the following key qualifications:
• A PhD in Life Sciences
• Outstanding qualifications as outlined in the research projects
• Excellent English skills written and spoken
For further information regarding the positions, please contact Associate Professor Claus Sørensen on e-mail: claus.storgaard@bric.ku.dk
Place of employment
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the Biocenter, close to the centre of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and a number of core facilities shared between the 23 research groups at BRIC and the neighbouring Finsen Laboratory. We have weekly journal clubs, data clubs, seminars with invited speakers and a young researchers club ASAP and our own PhD programme, MoMeD. BRIC actively participates in the European alliance, EU-life consisting of 13 excellent life science research institutions http://eu-life.eu/
