The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.SALVATORE MANCARELLA. Postdoctoral position is available to study mechanisms of cardiac repair and excitation-contraction coupling in cells of the cardiovascular system of animal models of cardiac disease, using state-of-the-art electrophysiological, optical, biochemical and molecular biology. The duties for the position include culturing primary cardiomyocytes, conducting experiments related to a funded NIH R00 grant, reading and knowing the relevant literature, training new personnel in the laboratory, attending and presenting at scientific meetings, and writing drafts of manuscripts. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design his/her own related experiments, develop new techniques, and develop new collaborations with other researchers.
Qualifications: Experience in two or more of the following areas is required: rodent animal models, protein-protein interactions, patch-clamp electrophysiology, confocal microscopy/live-cell imaging and molecular biology. The successful candidate must have published at least a first name paper in a peer-reviewed international scientific journal. Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor.
