Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics and proteomics.
Vascular proteomics Group
The Vascular Proteomics group is a vibrant team which aims at unravelling the role of the tumour microenvironment in cancer development. Our research is focused on the role of endothelial cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts, and the interaction between these cell types. We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher, and we offer a unique opportunity to combine cell/molecular biology approaches and in vivo tumour models with quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics to develop a new level of understanding on how cell metabolism influence cell-cell communication in the tumour microenvironment.
You will have a PhD in a field relevant to cancer biology/angiogenesis/tumour stroma and cell metabolism, an excellent publication record and a demonstrable capability for independent thinking. While experience with mass spectrometry is not required, candidates should have a strong interest in mass spectrometry-based proteomics. An interest in using computational models is desirable.
