摘要:

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN NUCLEAR ENVELOPE BIOLOGY

Postdoctoral positions at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor are available for exceptional individuals at the post-doctoral level to conduct research into the role of the dystonia-related AAA+ protein torsinA at the nuclear membrane. At the nuclear membrane, torsinA has been implicated in several fundamental processes during neuronal development/maturation, including interphase nuclear pore insertion/localization and a novel transport process that is independent of the nuclear pore and occurs via a membrane budding event. This budding/transport process appears to be involved in the transport of mRNAs and ubiquitinated nuclear membrane proteins.

We now seek an applicant with a strong interest in nuclear envelope biology in relation to disease trained in or willing to pursue cell biological studies of torsin function or in Drosophila or C. Elegans to use these model systems in an integrated manner with our current research program. We are particularly interested in using invertebrate systems to identify and characterize novel genetic interactors, as well as to address basic neurobiological questions.

For additional information see: Neuron 48(6):923; JCI 124(7): 3080.

Candidates must be independent and resourceful, and be able to communicate comfortably in English. To apply, please forward the following materials:

1) An up-to-date curriculum vitae.
2) Names and contact information for 2 or 3 persons who can serve as personal and professional references.
3) A cover letter that explains your goals for your postdoctoral training
