The Dr. André S. Bachmann laboratory in the Michigan State University Department of Pediatrics and Human Development seeks to augment its research staff with a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Bachmann Lab has an active natural products drug discovery program with focus on the proteasome and ornithine decarboxylase (ODC)/polyamines associated with relapse in the pediatric cancer neuroblastoma. Dr. Bachmann's research spans from basic to translational research with participation in clinical trials (e.g., Oncogene, 2005, 24:5606-18; Cancer Research, 2008, 68:9825-31; Nature, 2008, 452:755-8; PNAS, 2009, 106:6507-12; International Journal of Cancer, 2010, 126:2012-24; Biochemistry, 2012, 51(34):6880-6888; Journal of Molecular Biology, 2014, 426: 332-46; BMC Cancer, 2015, 15: 470; PLoS One, 2015, 10: e0127246). The chosen candidate will work with Dr. Bachmann and his lab in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The laboratory uses a combination of advanced molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical techniques, and has ready access to excellentMSU core facilities.

This position is temporary, non-tenure track, and renewable annually (subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds). The stipend range is $42,000 – $48,000 (US) per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Competitive applicants will have a proven track-record in terms of publications and independent funding or scholarships. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with a strong background in cancer cell biology and experience with pediatric neuroblastoma, ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) and polyamine analysis, proteasome activity studies, confocal laser microscopy, and cell culture transfection protocols.
