Molecular Cardiovascular and Renal Research

A senior Postdoctoral Research position is available for studying molecular mechanism of cardiovascular and renal diseases in the Department of Physiology University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. This position is sponsored by the NIH-funded projects. Salaries are competitive and fringe benefits include health insurance coverage for family. The incumbent will join a dynamic research team that stands in the forefront of cardiovascular and renal research. This position may have opportunity for advancement and promotion based on accomplishments of first 2 years. This position is ideal for highly motivated individuals who would like to prepare themselves for an independent faculty position.
This Postdoctoral Fellow will receive training in a wide array of genetic, molecular, biochemical, and integrative physiological methods to investigate cardiovascular and renal functions and diseases. Current areas of research emphasis include 1) molecular mechanism of hypertension, 2) Molecular and stem cell therapy for arterial stiffening and heart diseases, and 3) molecular mechanisms of aging-related renal injury. Studies are conducted in genetically engineered rodent models.
Candidates must have a PhD, MD or comparable degree with an interest in cellular/molecular cardiovascular or research. Prior experience and training with at least three of the followings is preferred: epigenetics, autophagy, stem cell biology, gene therapy, viral vectors, renal tubule epithelial cell biology, proteomics, vascular biology, or cardiovascular/renal physiology. Our laboratories are housed in the state-of-the-art Biomedical Research Center Building with excellent core facilities.
