Columbia University's Department of Medicine, Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases invites applications for the position of APostdoctoral Research Scientist to study the genetic and immunological aspects of pancreatic cancer in humans and mouse models. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing standardized in vitro and cellular assays for studying the role of neurotransmitters in pancreatic cancer. The major focus will be the translational investigations into the response of pancreatic carcinomas to pancreatic denervation, preclinical therapeutic models for pancreatic cancer and characterization of a variety of animal models. The Candidate is required to have robust surgical skills to perform surgery on small animal models. He/She will also be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project including managing study timelines and intervention development.

Minimum degree required: PhD and/or MD. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with a strong background and experience in molecular biology, genetics, surgery, and cell culture. Experience required with surgery on small animal models, cell culture, (pancreatic spheroids , iPS and immune cells), ELISA, histopathological staining techniques, DNA/RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, Western Blotting, and FACS.
