A POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available in the laboratory of Dr. Channe
Gowda in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology, Penn State College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center,
Hershey, Pennsylvania, to study the interaction between malaria parasite adhesive protein (VAR2CSA) and placental chondroitin 4-sulfate. The overall goal of this project is to identify/develop compounds that bock this interaction.
Essential skills and Knowledge required are basic molecular biology, protein
expression in mammalian systems, protein purification, protein/glycosaminoglycan biochemistry, and biochemical analysis including mass spectrometry.  Experience in biophysical analysis of protein-protein/protein-carbohydrate interactions is desirable.
