About BioMed X
The BioMed X Innovation Center constitutes a novel way of collaboration at the interface between academia and industry. At this center, distinguished early career scientists recruited from all over the world are working jointly on novel pre-clinical research projects in the fields of biomedicine, molecular biology, cell biology and bioinformatics. These interdisciplinary project teams are conducting groundbreaking biomedical research in an open innovation lab facility on the campus of the University of Heidelberg, under the guidance of experienced mentors from academia and industry while expanding their scientific network.
What we are looking for
A postdoctoral position in neurobiology is available in the team of “Tau-mediated neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s Disease” at the BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg. The main aim of the group is to develop therapeutic strategies and biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease based on tau post-translational modifications. The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. degree in cell biology, neurobiology or biochemistry and a strong background in the use of human iPSC-derived neuronal cultures to model neurological disease.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in the generation and differentiation of iPS cells to neurons and other CNS cell types;
- Experience in different types of microscopy;
- Strong publication track record, experienced to work in interdisciplinary teams, and excellent communication skills in English.
Additional required skills:
- Experience in organotypic cultures / neuron-glia co-cultures;
- Experience in immunohistochemical techniques;
- Experience in high-resolution microscopy techniques (e.g. STED).

The post is offered for an initial term of two years, with the possibility of prolongation for up to two additional years, and an option for a permanent position.
