Postdoctoral Research Position in DNA Replication and Repair
Temple University, Fels Institute for Cancer Research Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (US)Up to $55,000 per annum + benefits
A Postdoctoral Research position is available to study the mechanisms and regulation of microhomology-mediated end-joining (MMEJ), also known as alternative end-joining, in human cells. MMEJ is a relatively newly discovered DNA repair process that causes chromosome deletions, insertions, and rearrangements, and promotes the survival of cancers deficient in the homologous recombination pathway, such as subsets of ovarian and breast cancers.
At least 5 years of experience in protein purification, cloning, and nucleic-acid biochemistry is essential for the position. Mammalian cell culture and Western blot experience is also preferred. Additional training will be available in all areas of the project, including guidance and oversight towards enhancing future career prospects for the candidate. A PhD in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or a relevant subject area is required. Candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills, critical problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a strong motivation to publish in reputable peer reviewed scientific journals are encouraged to apply. Candidates available for interviewing in person at Temple University School of Medicine are highly preferred.
