摘要:
Do you have the ambition to be an industry leading drug hunter?
We now offer an opportunity for you as a Senior Medicinal Chemist to become part of our group of the best experts in the world, and to join us in pushing the boundaries of science.

AstraZeneca is a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we're more than one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. At AstraZeneca, we're proud to have a unique workplace culture that inspires innovation and collaboration. Here, employees are empowered to express diverse perspectives - and are made to feel valued, energized and rewarded for their ideas and creativity.

The Arena

The Innovative Medicines (iMed) of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases pushes the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines to patients suffering from Heart Failure, Diabetes or Chronic Kidney Disease.

CVMD iMed is agnostic to molecular modality and utilizes small molecules, peptides, macrocycles, oligonucleotides, etc, which provides a unique opportunity to address scientific questions in an innovative way and creates a stimulating environment for you as a Medicinal Chemist.

Both our pipeline and the research areas we focus on are to a large extent driven through collaborations and gives you access to the most recent knowledge and the best experts in the world.

The Medicinal Chemistry Department is a critical player in identifying novel targets and chemical series primarily around small molecules but is expanding capabilities in alternative modalities such as peptides and oligonucleotides. We need you who like to explore new scientific approaches, bridge your thinking between chemistry and biology and work in an open and collaborative environment nursing novel ideas, you who have the ambition to be a industry leading drug hunter.

The role

This is a senior scientific role within the Medicinal Chemistry department. You will be an authority in medicinal chemistry and will develop and lead the science in this field. Preferentially you have experience from oligonucleotides/RNA therapeutics programs. You will have a profound impact on multiple projects across the CVMD iMed, in all phases from target selection to drug candidate selection. The role holder will also provide discipline-based scientific leadership and represent the department and AstraZeneca at interdisciplinary meetings internally as well as externally. The role-holder will influence the strategy of Medicinal Chemistry towards the future needs, primarily in the area of RNA therapeutics.

Key Deliverables

Be the Medicinal Chemistry lead in projects, in particular in RNA therapeutics projects, which are largely run in collaborations with external partners including Isis Pharmaceuticals, Moderna Therapeutics and Regulus Therapeutics, and secure delivery of overall project objectives.
Responsible together with the Med Chem Leadership Team for a clear, compelling scientific strategy in the field of medicinal chemistry and oligonucleotides/RNA therapeutics.
Work collaboratively across disciplines and beyond AstraZeneca boundaries to enable oligonucleotides drug formulation, delivery and safety.
Initiate, lead and champion new innovations
Evaluate and manage external collaborations & in-licensing opportunities
Demonstrate scientific leadership through high quality publications, conference presentations and by building networks with external scientific leading groups

Experience

Ideally, you should have a Ph. D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 5 or more years post-doctoral research experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, preferentially with experience from oligonucleotides / RNA-based projects in an industrial setting. You will have the ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary matrix research environment, providing leadership and insight in medicinal chemistry. You will be recognised internationally as evidenced by your external disclosures and publication record. This role also demands in-depth collaboration skills. We seek you who have experience from leading projects or chemistry programs on projects across the drug discovery process. Experience in conjugation chemistry of oligonucleotides for drug delivery will be seen as an advantage.

Key qualities

A demonstrated strong ability to deliver innovations and milestones in drug discovery projects as Lead Medicinal Chemist.
Very good knowledge of related disciplines and interfaces, in particular biology, DMPK and assays technologies.
A highly self-motivated, scientifically critical individual capable of receiving and analyzing input from multiple disciplines and deciding on focused course of action
Good ability to lead other scientists and create commitment and engagement.
Good awareness of the competitive landscape and of industry trends.
Very good written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to senior leaders
