摘要:

The Oxford Internet Institute is a leading centre for research into individual, collective and institutional behaviour on the Internet. We are looking for a full-time Researcher to work with Dr Vili Lehdonvirta on the ERC-funded project iLabour: The Construction of Labour Markets, Institutions and Movements on the Internet. The project examines online labour markets that form part of the so-called “sharing economy”, examining their social and policy implications.

In this exciting role, the Researcher will be in charge of collecting data on online labour markets via APIs, web scraping, and collaborations with platform owners, apply standard statistical analyses as well as bespoke computational analyses to address questions of social and policy relevance, and produce eye-catching visualisations of the results. The Researcher will also contribute to the dissemination of the findings through academic publications, reports, presentations, and social media.

The position is suited to candidates who have recently completed a doctorate in computer science, economics, sociology, or other relevant discipline (i.e. postdocs), but we also welcome applications from qualified individuals without a doctorate (e.g. candidates with industry experience). Good programming skills and an interest in the social and policy debates concerning the “sharing economy” are required.

Based at the Oxford Internet Institute, this position is available immediately for 3.5 years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal thereafter, funding permitting. For qualified candidates, there are opportunities to obtain graduate supervision and teaching experience.
