Postdoctoral Research Assistant - Influenza Virus Replication : Oxford, United Kingdom

Salary: Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.

We are looking for a postdoctoral research assistant to join the research laboratory of Professor Ervin Fodor at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. The successful applicant will join a dynamic and successful group studying the molecular mechanisms of influenza virus replication with the aim of uncovering the molecular basis of host range restriction and pathogenicity of influenza viruses. The project will take advantage of established collaborations with structural biologists, chemists and physicists, and may employ methods such as X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, proteomics, single molecule analyses and super-resolution microscopy.

The position would suit an enthusiastic, motivated, highly organised postdoctoral scientist possessing knowledge and experience in molecular and cell biology, and an ability to contribute conceptually to the overall research programme. The postholder must have a PhD in biochemistry, biology or related sciences. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present results clearly and logically, as well as working co-operatively as part of a team and independently, are also essential capabilities for this post.
