The Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute (www.cruk.manchester.ac.uk), an Institute of The University of Manchester (www.manchester.ac.uk), is a world-leading centre for excellence in cancer research. The Institute, core-funded by Cancer Research UK (www.cancerresearchuk.org), the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world, has exceptional laboratory facilities and state-of-the-art core services, including next generation sequencing, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, bioinformatics, histology and mass-spectrometry. We are adjacent to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust (www.christie.nhs.uk), one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. These factors combine to provide an exceptional environment in which to pursue basic, translational and clinical research programmes in a vibrant and dynamic city surrounded by beautiful countryside and with excellent national and international transport links.

We are currently looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Cancer Inflammation and Immunity Group. The aim of the group is to experimentally dissect the factors determining tumour immunogenicity combining the use of newly established transplantable and autochthonous cancer models with the analysis of samples from cancer patients. A specific focus of the group is to study the immunomodulatory properties of factors derived from senescent or transformed cancer cells bearing different combinations of oncogenic mutations on innate immune cells. Dendritic cells, key controllers of anti-tumour immune responses, are a major topic of research. Candidates must have a PhD degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field in addition to the appropriate experience and track record. A good knowledge of tissue culture, basic molecular and cellular biology approaches and immunological techniques, such as flow cytometry, is required. Experience in cancer research and/or in vivo immunology would be advantageous.
