Bioinformatics/Computational Genomics Postdoctoral Researcher : San Antonio, TX, United States
Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral position in bioinformatics/computational genomics in the laboratory of Dr. Victor Jin, Associate Professor, in the Departments of Molecular Medicine, and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). The research focus will be in the cut edge research area of computational genomics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new algorithms and software tools for the identification and characterization of genomic regulatory elements, structure variants from the cancer genetic, epigenetic and gene regulatory data generated from high throughput technologies such as Hi-C, ChIP-seq, MBD-seq, Whole-Exome-seq, miRNA-seq and RNA-seq. The position actively involves in working cooperatively with other lab members and outside collaborators. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and independent with good skills in statistic, mathematics and computer science, and a strong record of accomplishment in research.
This position will not have a faculty title. All Postdoctoral appointments are designated as security sensitive positions. Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, molecular biology, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Research experience (with first-author publications) in computational genomics
- Proficiency in programming, ideally in C/C++ as well as in scripting languages such as perl/python, or R. Should be comfortable in a linux environment, with large data sets, computer clusters, and database software.
