The project:
We seek three outstanding researchers to work on a large-scale single-cell transcriptome project on
metabolic tissues (liver, heart, kidney and vasculature), within the lab of Rickard Sandberg in particular on the computational analyses of single-cell RNA-seq
data and on improving single-cell assay throughput. In this project we will generate “molecular
encyclopedias” of these organs in order to understand the molecular principles of normal organ
development, function and pathogenesis at a previously unprecedented level, using state-of-the-art RNAseq
and bioinformatics technologies. For this project, which offers direct collaboration with the Pharma
Industry (AstraZeneca), we seek three postdoctoral research fellows, two with expertise in computational
analyses of RNA-seq data and OMICS data and one with expertise in single-cell RNA-seq assay
development.

The positions are a 2 years full time contract with a possibility of 2 years extension.

Entry requirements:
Position-specific requirements:
2 Postdoctoral fellows in computational analyses of single-cell RNA-seq data:
• have a strong background genome-wide bioinformatics, programming and linux environment.
Previous experience with RNA-seq data analyses is meriting.
1 Postdoctoral fellow in single-cell RNA-seq assay method development:
• have a strong background in molecular biology and method development. Previous experience with
single-cell RNA-seq is meriting.

General requirements:
A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no
more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The successful applicants must
have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group and have good English
communication skills.

Location
ICMC is a research collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and AstraZeneca, and ICMC is located at
the Dept Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. The postdoctoral fellows in
bioinformatics and RNA-seq technology will be located at the Dept Cell Mol Biol, Karolinska Institutet.
