Postdoctoral Fellowship in Immunology : Toronto, Canada

Area of Research: A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratories of Drs. Jennifer Gommerman and Ken Croitoru at the Department of Immunology, University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic team comprised of clinician scientists and basic science investigators studying IBD, MS, mucosal immunology and cell biology at the clinical, in vivo and in vitro levels. The incumbent will be working on a project funded by the Connaught Global Challenge to investigate the role of the microbiome in the development of chronic inflammatory diseases among immigrant populations.

Description of Duties: The incumbent will further the GEMINI Research Program to examine the environmental risk factors and GxE interactions underlying the elevated risk of developing chronic inflammatory diseases observed in certain immigrant populations. 
• Presentation of research results at lab meetings and conferences.
• Working independently, and the incumbent will be responsible for managing his/her own research project, as well as assisting his/her trainees with their projects when required.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate should be highly motivated and hold a recent Ph.D. in biological sciences with research experience in immunology, microbiome and autoimmune diseases.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Interest and drive in creating his/her own novel research direction.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
