Position Description: A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ryan Boudreau in the Department of Internal Medicine. Research involves: 1) effects of miRNAs in cardiac myopathies and neurological disease (e.g. Huntington’s and Parkinson’s), 2) mapping of tissue specific miRNA libraries, 3) discovering novel cardiovascular-disease related genes, 4) developing new therapeutics for cardiovascular and neurological disease, 5) myocardial metabolism, mitochondrial function and autophagy.
Research in the laboratory includes the use of mouse models, cell culture systems, large genetic and proteomic dataset bioinformatics, genetic engineering, and human tissues. Applicants should have strong research backgrounds in genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, as well as an excellent publication record. Selected candidate is expected to work independently while interacting in a collaborative environment.
Education Requirement: A PhD or MD/PhD degree in genetics or a related field is required.
Required Qualifications:
• 4-6 years of hands-on research experience.
• Proficient in techniques including: RT-PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, qPCR, RNA interference, protein purification, SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, tissue culture techniques, mouse husbandry and handling, animal surgeries (preferred).
• Excellent oral and written skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Willing to work in a collaborative environment.
