Postdoctoral Research Associate in Ultrasensitive Cavity Spectroscopy
Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Grant Ritchie on a research project funded by NERC for a period of 3 years.

The project involves the development of an ultrasensitive measurement technique called Intracavity Faraday Modulation
Spectroscopy (INFAMOS) for the detection of speciated peroxy radicals in the atmosphere. Find out more about the Ritchie research group at http://ritchie.chem.ox.ac.uk/.

You should have a PhD in Laser or atomic Physics, Physical Chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment. You should have expertise in one or more of the following: laser frequency stabilisation methods; electronic control and modulation of lasers; cavity enhanced spectroscopies such as optical feedback CEAS, cavity ringdown spectroscopy, noise immune cavity enhanced molecular heterodyne spectroscopy; diode laser spectroscopy; Faraday rotation spectroscopy.

The post will be based in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QZ.

The post is available from 1 May 2015.
