Postdoctoral Position in Chemistry/Chemical Biology

    A fully funded postdoctoral position in Chemistry/Chemical Biology is available in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Charles University in Prague starting at the earliest from March 2015. The newly open group of Chemical Biology is looking for a highly motivated individual that is interested in research at the interface of chemistry and biology. The project aims to develop a fully synthetic platform for the discovery of novel functional miniproteins. The synthetic nature of the miniproteins will enable to screen for unprecedented functions and promises to have a major impact in the development of new catalysts, probes for molecular biology, biomarkers and therapeutics.

    We employ a broad range of techniques that span from synthetic chemistry to molecular biology. The multidisciplinary nature of the project will provide the postdoc fellow with a diverse set of skills, which will make her/him a competitive candidate for the both academic and industrial job market in chemical and life sciences. The salary is highly adequate to cover all living costs in Prague.

Requirements:
The successful applicant will have a PhD degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry and will have an experience with synthesis and characterization of small molecules and peptides. Experience with DNA manipulation and cloning is beneficial but not required. The applicant is expected to be fluent in English.
