Global Change Institute

The University of Queensland established the Global Change Institute to provide leadership, engagement and advocacy in the area of global change, and to harness the expertise available to find innovative solutions in a multi-disciplinary, integrated manner. 

The Institute's mission is to advance discovery, and create and promote solutions that influence high level political and social changes that address the challenges presented by a changing climate, technology and population. In meeting this mission, the Global Change Institute delivers high-impact, 'game changing' research that provides solutions to global change challenges facing the world.  It does this through developing collaborations within the University of Queensland's expert knowledge base, and by driving high-level engagement with national, regional and international partners.

The role

The Program Manager (Sustainable Water) is accountable to the Program Director (Sustainable Water) for the administration and coordination of research activities under the GCI Sustainable Water Program.  The position is also responsible for administration and coordination of research on prospective partnerships, collaborations and funding opportunities, as well as the development of research proposals and position papers.

This position is best suited to someone with a research background and/or a background in research management.

 The person

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who can demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills, preferably in a research environment.  They will also need to be proactive in the development of multi-faceted programs and be able to work in partnership with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve results. 

The successful candidate will have a high level of project management skills and be able to meet project development and management deadlines in an effective and timely manner.  They should also preferably possess a postgraduate qualification (preferably in Science or Management) with at least six years complementary experience within a related research field, and/or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.

A broad knowledge of global change issues particularly relating to sustainable water would also be desirable.

 Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $87,483.42 - $98,232.07 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% (total package will be in the range $95,794.34 - $107,564.11 p.a.).
