A position for a Post Doctoral Fellow is available at the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health to conduct research on the molecular mechanisms of regulation of drug resistance in mycobacteria. The position involves design and creation of gene knockouts, next generation of mutant bacteria, and data analysis to decipher regulatory pathways that contribute to intrinsic drug resistance in these bacteria.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for establishing experimental approaches, be able to analyze and interpret data produced, handle multiple projects , supervise the work of students and technicians and synthesize findings into manuscripts for publication and/or formatted for submission of grants.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: A recent Ph.D. with a strong background in molecular biology, microbiology or an equivalent field of research.

Experience & Skills: The successful candidate is expected to have documented research experience in molecular biology and/or microbiology, to be highly motivate, collaborative and hard working. Applicants must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Expertise: In mycobacterial research and  high-throughput technologies.
