摘要:
Postdoctoral Fellowship Novel Antimicrobial Discovery : Boston, United States

Postdoctoral fellow position available immediately to identify novel compounds that restore antimicrobial susceptibility in multi-drug resistant Gram negative pathogens (e.g., carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae). Work would involve use of high throughput screening approaches to identify novel adjunctive antimicrobials; experiments to explore and optimize antimicrobial properties; and work to define activity spectrum and mechanism of action. Our goal is to achieve proof of principle for these novel therapeutics and identify leads for clinical development.

Several related projects are also being pursued by the Kirby laboratory including use of high throughput screening approaches to identify novel antimicrobials that target virulence mechanisms of bacterial pathogens. We are also studying pathogen-host interactions amongst Bartonella and related Gram negative organisms. The postdoctoral fellow may also contribute to these other laboratory efforts.

The Kirby Laboratory is located in the recently constructed, LEED-certified, Center for Life Science Building in the Harvard Longwood Medical Area, Boston, MA. Academically, we reside within the Experimental Pathology Division of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School-affiliated, teaching hospital.

Additional information about the laboratory may be found at: http://kirbylab.weebly.com

Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD; broad microbiology training; excellent communication skills; and a strong track record of published scientific achievement. Experience with or strong desire to learn how to perform high throughput drug discovery experiments is a pre-requisite.

To apply for a postdoctoral position and/or to seek additional information, contact James Kirby via email (kirbylab_postdoc@comcast.net). Please include in one pdf file a C.V.; a statement of career goals; and contact information for three references….
