摘要:
Postdoctoral fellow position in the area of cancer cell biology : 50931 Köln, Germany

At the Department of Translational Genomics (Director: Roman Thomas, M.D., www.translational-genomics.uni-koeln.de) a full-time

Postdoctoral fellow position in the area of cancer cell biology

is available immediately.

Our group is a dynamic and competitive research lab; our research is centered on understanding functional, cell biology aspects of mutations in the cancer genome. We employ cancer genome sequencing to identify novel mutations that drive tumor growth. A focus of our work is to combine computational biology as well as molecular cell biology methods to understand the biological impact of these novel mutations. Thus, our lab is composed of scientist with various background, including physics, cell biology, oncology and genetics that work together in a highly collaborative fashion to funnel results from computational analyses into functional cell biology understanding.

We are looking for talented scientists driven by the desire to make a relevant contribution to the treatment of cancer patients by discovering significant findings in the lab. A profound knowledge of cancer cell biology, prior research experience and the ability to drive projects with a high degree of independence are a must. The position requires a PhD degree in a relevant field, such as cell biology or biochemistry. Profound experimental experience in molecular/ cell biology (preferably including work involving mice) is a requirement. We offer a great environment within the lab, intensive mentoring and multiple interactions with global leaders, both from academia and industry.

The Board of Directors of the University Hospital of Cologne places strong emphasis on gender equality and seeks to increase the proportional representation of women in this field. Thus applications from female scientists are welcome; suitably qualified women will be given preferential consideration unless other candidates clearly demonstrate superior qualifications.

We also welcome applications from disabled candidates, who will also be given preferential consideration over other applicants with comparable qualifications.

Please submit your application including a detailed CV, list of publications, two references, and a brief statement of research interests as a single .pdf file to Roman Thomas (roman.thomas@uni-koeln.de).
