摘要:

Postdoctoral position in Vascular Inflammation : Würzburg, Germany

Cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis is the number one cause of morbidity and mortality in western societies. Immune responses participate in all phases of atherosclerosis.

The Institute for Clinical Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry at the University Hospital of Würzburg focus on inflammation and immune responses, and the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, we are interested in immune cells and their contribution to disease development (e.g. see J. Clin. Invest. 2011;121:2898, Circulation 2012;125:1673, Circulation 2014;129:598).

Successful candidates are expected to prove outstanding academic performance and scientific excellence in life sciences and have a strong background in immunology and in vivo models. Expertise in microscopy techniques, in particular multiphoton microscopy, would be highly desirable.

The University Hospital Würzburg offers an environment for cutting-edge research, including the DFG-funded collaborative Research Center SFB688 “Mechanisms and imaging of cardiovascular cell-cell-interactions”, which integrates complementary areas of research including molecular biology, physiology, biophysics, proteomics and bioinformatics, with clinical medicine to focus on mechanisms of cardiovascular cell-cell interactions and molecular and functional imaging of these interactions (http://www.sfb688.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/collaborative_research_centre_sfb_688/).
