摘要:

Research Associate/Senior Research Associate : London, United Kingdom

UCL Research Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology

Research Associate/Senior Research Associate

The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7-8. The salary range will be £33,353 – £40,313 per annum (Research Associate Grade 7) £41,430 – £48,873 (Senior Research Associate Grade 8), inclusive of London Allowance.

We are looking for a highly quantitative systems neuroscientist who is interested in investigating the development of sensory processing in the human infant brain, with a particular focus on understanding the development of pain in infancy. The work involves applying a variety of neurophysiological and neuroimaging techniques in a sensitive clinical environment to infants and young children. Techniques potentially includeEEG, EMG, NIRS and behavioural scoring. This research requires the design and execution of experiments that will provide direct answers to questions about the development of neural connections and networks that underlie sensory responses and perception in the human infant central nervous system. Furthermore the research aims to address clinically-relevant questions about pain perception and pain relief in this population.

The work will include designing and running experiments, and recording, acquiring and analysing data. The candidate will also be expected to write up and present results as part of collaborative research team based at UCL and UCLH and to prepare manuscripts for publication.

The post is available from 1 January 2015 for three years in the first instance.

Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience or related discipline and ideally, some hands-on experience in human clinical research. Expertise in using the different neurophysiological or imaging methods would be desirable as would experience of analysing complex datasets.

Please state clearly in your application if you would like to be considered for the post at Grade 7 or Grade 8. Please note all selection criteria should be answered, though there are some specific criteria for either Grade 7 or Grade 8. You should ensure your application covers those criteria relating to the Grade you are applying for.
