摘要:

Postdoctoral Research Assistant / Associate in Dynamical Systems (ChaParDyn)

University of Bristol - School of Mathematics

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position fully funded by the European Research Council Starting Research Grant Chaotic Properties of Parabolic Flows: Mixing, Rigidiy and Spectra and supervised by the project leader Dr Corinna Ulcigrai. The project focus on the ergodic and spectral properties of parabolic dynamical systems and includes a range of objectives connected to Teichmueller dynamics, time changes of homogenous flows and infinite ergodic theory.

You will be part of the active Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory group at the University in Bristol and interact also with the Number Theory and Mathematical Physics research teams. You should hold (or expect to hold by the start date) a PhD in Pure Mathematics. A previous track record in ergodic theory is strongly encouraged. A background in Teichmueller dynamics, or in spectral theory of dynamical systems or in infinite ergodic theory is desirable.

Please note that we will only be able to consider you for this vacancy if you submit the application via the University of Bristol website www.bris.ac.uk/jobs.

Complete applications should include the following items: (1) a cover letter, which should also include a brief research statement (1-2 pages total) explaining your previous work and why you are interested in this position; (2) a CV; (3) Reference letters: the candidate should arrange for three academic referees to send recommendation letters directly to Dr Corinna Ulcigrai at erc-postdoc@bristol.ac.uk. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that reference letters are received by the closing date.

The School of Mathematics is a supporter of the LMS Good Practice Scheme aiming at advancing women's careers in mathematics and we therefore particularly welcome applications from women for this post.

This appointment will be offered as a fixed term contract for up to three years.
Closing date for all applications is 7th January 2015.
Interviews are expected to be held in January 2015.

The University of Bristol is committed to equality and we value the diversity of our staff and students.
