摘要:

At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, our Engineering Directorate has been developing, building, and applying cutting-edge technology innovations for national security missions for 60 years. We have a staff of over 1400 world-class engineers, scientists, and technicians who are the foundation for most of the work performed at the Laboratory.

We apply innovative, world-class engineering knowledge and state-of-the art technologies for the Lab's core programs in stockpile stewardship, global security, and science and technology. LLNL's Engineering staff is meeting our nation's needs to enhance national security, reduce global threats, and address scientific and engineering challenges of national importance.

Are you up to the challenge?

The Polymers and Ceramic Group within the Engineering Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking Ph.D. candidates with majors in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Processing, or Powder Metallurgy. The Postdoctoral Research Engineer will perform research and development activities related to materials processing and performance for applied materials. Creativity and an ability to innovate along with a broad background in a variety of materials and materials processing methods are desired.  Improvements to processing and materials selection are needed and this opportunity requires a hands-on experimental approach to materials development of processes that will lead to finished products.

What you will do?

As a member of the Engineering Directorate, new Postdoc Staff Members will join one or more of our many multi-disciplinary projects for solving problems of national importance. LLNL is home to a diverse, multi-disciplinary workforce and a broad range of state-of-the-art experimental facilities. Our current areas of research and development include:

Advanced materials processing
Thermal processing of materials
Processing and characterization of advanced materials
Thermodynamics of materials

The key to our success is our people. If you are added to the team, you will collaborate alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry to research and implement advanced techniques that push the frontiers of knowledge and develop further than you ever thought possible. You will be challenged and driven to continually expand the range of your capabilities.
