摘要:

We are searching for highly motivated Postdoctoral fellows with strong ambition and commitment to a productive environment. Our laboratory is pioneering neural stem cell isolation, perpetuation and differentiation into specific neural lineages for basic biology, drug discovery and stem cell-based therapy for neurological disorders. We have discovered technologies for neural stem cell derivation and differentiation into dopaminergic neurons with application in Parkinson’s disease. We are also pursuing preclinical development projects using rodents and non-human primate models of Parkinson’s disease, stroke and traumatic brain injury.

The Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) is one of the top centers in the world in primate research and we have collaborative programs with the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio, enabling students and postdocs to participate in journal clubs, seminars and internal funding opportunities.

We also have industry partnerships to develop neural stem cell products for treating neurological disorders. Thus, the successful candidate will have unique exposure to various aspects of stem cell biology and translational research and gain highly desirable experience. The postdoc fellow will report to Dr. Marcel Daadi.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: REQUIRED: Ph.D. in neurosciences, molecular neurobiology or developmental neurobiology with experience in stem cells. Strong molecular/developmental biology background to investigate 1) Reprogramming, induced-Pluripotent Stem Cells, TALEN/CRISPR genome-editing, disease modeling, engineering the expression of disease causing mutations, epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of gene expression, functional analysis and implementing next generation sequencing OR 2) Electrophysiology, optogenetics and time-lapse imaging, animal neurosurgeries, behavioral testing.

OTHER: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position. Texas Biomedical Research Institute business hours are Monday through Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
