The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. About the role:
We are offering a comprehensive 3-year Research Associate traineeship during which you will learn to use the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) model in a range of applications, including UK Earth System modelling. The main focus will be on biogeochemical processes in JULES and their interactions with the chemical composition of the atmosphere (e.g., interactions between the carbon and nitrogen cycles and the effect on greenhouse gas exchange).

To join us you will need:
• A 2.1 Degree in either physical sciences or mathematics with element/modules of computing, plus a PhD in a numerate science degree, or at least a Masters degree with relevant experience
• Existing programming experience and preferably experience of using Earth Observation data
• To be able to demonstrate good team working skills with the ability to develop effective internal and external collaborations within the scientific area
