摘要:

Postdoctoral scientist, Ralser lab : Cambridge, United Kingdom

Life depends on a network of biochemical reactions that constitutes our metabolism. It is key for the survival of modern cells that this metabolic network is flexible and able to adapt to changes in the environment. We are an EMBO young investigator laboratory in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Tennis Court Road, Central Cambridge, that's funded by the ERC and Wellcome Trust and investigates how this flexibility is achieved. We combine tools of yeast functional genetics with mass-spectrometry based analytics and computational biology to identify genes required for the regulation of metabolism, to define principles on how the metabolic networks operate, and we try to understand how the metabolism has evolved. The results help us to understand about changes in metabolism that occur during ageing and in the human metabolic disease.

We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our Wellcome Trust funded project to identify regulators of the metabolism. The successful candidate should have a PhD in either Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Analytical Chemistry, and experience in either liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, or yeast functional genomics. Despite this post being ideal for an experimentalist, the candidate should have sympathy for computational work, data analysis, and training in R/python or a related programming language will be provided.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 April 2016 in the first instance.
