摘要:

TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, is currently accepting applications for two postdoctoral research fellows who will join the ATLAS Group.  The group is strongly involved in the Higgs, Supersymmetry, and Exotics physics programmes at ATLAS. TRIUMF built the ATLAS hadronic endcap calorimeter and hosts an ATLAS Tier-1 data centre maintained by a team of Grid computing experts based at TRIUMF.  For the LHC phase-1 upgrades, TRIUMF is constructing thin gap muon chambers for the New Small Wheel in collaboration with a number of Canadian universities. TRIUMF is also involved in the upgrade of the liquid argon calorimeter electronics.

The successful applicants will be expected to take leading roles in data analysis and to participate in detector software, performance or upgrade work.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • developing data analyses for the upcoming Run 2 of ATLAS
  • participating in the re-commissioning and operating of the detector
  • contributing to upgrade activities
  • disseminating results as articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at national and international conferences and workshops
  • supervising undergraduate and/or graduate students

Applicants must demonstrate extensive knowledge of particle physics, detector physics, and statistics, and have experience with general computing.  Qualifications include a recent Ph.D. in experimental particle physics with a strong background in data analysis.

The start date for both positions is somewhat flexible and could be as early as September 1st, 2014.  Relocation to CERN is also an option.  The term of appointment will be based on an initial commitment to a one year term, and this may be renewed annually for a second and possibly third year, based on mutual satisfaction and continued grant funding.    Salary will be competitive depending on experience.

A complete application package will include the following:

Applicants are encouraged to include, or to arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be submitted prior to the closing date.

Closing Date: August 29th 2014
