As an integral member of the NPDI team, the successful candidate will collaborate with academicians and other strategic partners in all drug discovery efforts and should possess an understanding of the business needs of an organization. He/she will take part in microbial identification, growth, maintenance and genomic analysis with particular attention to actinomycete bacteria and fungi.

Position requirements

* A PhD in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Genetics or related field with 3+ years experience of working with diverse microorganisms in an academic or industrial setting OR a MS degree of same with 7+ years of prior experience.
* Experience with microbial fermentation optimization and scale-up with preference given to those with first-hand knowledge of Design of Experiment and Quality by Design analytical approaches as well as the operation of bench scale bioreactors.
* Strong background in microbial genomic and taxonomic classification with familiarity with DNA isolation, PCR techniques and sequencing technologies.
* Experience using bioinformatics platforms/databases and associated analysis tools is a plus.
* Experience with in vitro microbial assay development and HTS liquid handling instrumentation is a plus.
* Relevant mentorship and/or supervision experience is essential. Interpersonal and presentation skills must be excellent.
* Demonstrate interest in latest developments in Natural Products, Microbiology and Drug Discovery by serving as Guest Speaker on occasion and Representing NPDI at academic/society conferences.
