The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow in the field of insect-PGPR interactions within the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Auburn University. The position is a one-year limited term up to a maximum of a four year period. Funding for salary and benefits beyond the one-year period will be an expectation of the Post-Doctoral Fellow.
Responsibilities: This is a 12-month, benefits eligible, non-tenure accruing position. Responsibilities include growing and maintaining plants and insects for bioassays, preparing bacteria for testing in bioassays, and conducting various bioassays for testing strains of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) for i. negative effects on insect growth, ii. negative effects on insect damage to plants treated with PGPR, and iii positive effects on plant growth.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Entomology or Plant Pathology by the position start date, a minimum of two years’ experience conducting assays to assess PGPR-insect interactions, excellence in scientific writing as demonstrated by publications, draft manuscripts, or draft research proposals. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess demonstrated ability and experience of working in interdisciplinary and team research projects. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin, and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required. Desired qualifications include experience working with industrial sponsored research programs, evaluating PGPR for growth promotion, assessing direct and indirect effects of PGPR on insects, and assessing PGPR effects on plant physiology.
