Research Associate

The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,699 – £39,523 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

We are seeking a highly motivated, very enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Dr Mala Shah to investigate how neurotransmitters affect axonal KV7 channel function in hippocampal dentate gyrus granule cells and mossy fiber boutons.

This post is funded by a BBSRC grant for 33 months in the first instance.

The successful candidate must have (or expect to have) a PhD in a relevant subject area. The candidate should be able to work independently. The candidate must also have significant experience in making whole-cell patch-clamp recordings from neurons present in brain slices. A good understanding of neuronal and synaptic physiology would be advantageous.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6 (salary £28,621 – £30,180 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
