A postdoctoral research fellow position is immediately available in the Department of Ophthalmology, Marilyn Glick Eye Institute and Indiana Center for Vascular Biology & Medicine, focusing on the role of Endothelial monocyte-activating polypeptide (EMAP) II in Diabetic eye diseases. The Marilyn Glick Eye Institute is comprised of approximately 77,000 square feet on three floors out of which more than 35,000 square feet is dedicated for basic biomedical and clinical research to advance the understanding of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, neurologic- associated eye disorders, eye disease in children, and other areas. The Indiana Center for Vascular Biology and Medicine (ICVBM) is committed to being a leader in translational research in understanding mechanisms of vascular wellness and disease, and the acceleration of the development of leading-edge medical therapies to improve the care of patients with vascular problems. We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our multi-disciplinary research group investigating the role of EMAPII in Diabetic Retinopathy. The work will include retinal endothelial cell culture experiments and an array of ischemic/diabetic animal models will be analyzed by ex vivo and in vivo imaging of the vasculature and/or neurons.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with research training in the fields of physiology, pharmacology, and/or cellular and molecular biology. Experience with the techniques of protein biochemistry, cell culture, microscopy, and animal experiments related to vision science are highly preferred. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. Candidate must also be proficient in oral and written English.
