This is a research associate position in a molecular biology laboratory. The specific duties will be split between lab managerial tasks and the performing of specific experiments. This position will be responsible for the design and implementation of specific experiments aimed at testing the short interference RNAs designed by the other colleagues on a NSF funded research project. These experiments will include molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, restriction enzyme digestions, and the generation of clone libraries. Additionally, DNA microarrays and qPCR will be used to measure genome-scale gene expressions. The lab management part of the position will include ordering of supplies and chemicals, maintaining equipment, and some supervision of undergraduate students in laboratory functions. Position requires the ability to work independently and troubleshoot experiments. Strong organizational skills, efficient time management skills and the ability to maintain careful records in a laboratory notebook are essential.
