Two post doc positions in clinical systems biology at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden
The Unit for Clinical Systems Biology (UCSB) aims to develop methods to find markers to personalize medication. We use allergy as a model of complex diseases, and analyse CD4 + cells from allergic patients with different high-throughput techniques to define modules of disease genes. Those modules are dissected to find candidate markers which are tested in functional and clinical studies. The positions are funded by the EU project MultiMod that involves five groups from Europe and the US with expertise in clinical research, genomics, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, immunology and high-throughput RNAi validation studies (http://www.multimod-project.eu/). The UCSB coordinates MultiMod and is responsible for collecting clinical materials, performing high-throughput studies, computational/bioinformatic analyses as well as experimental and clinical studies. The UCSB consists of two post docs, two PhDs, one master’s student, a research nurse and a clinician. We have a lab for integrated functional and high-throughput studies. The UCSB is part of the Department of Pediatrics, the Institute of Clinical Sciences of the University of Gothenburg. Important qualifications for the positions are a PhD in one or more of the fields that we work with, your publication record and references from your previous position or positions. Since there are few groups applying systems biology for concrete clinical aims, the experiences from working at the UCSB are likely to be very attractive for your future career.
