Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Li-Sulfur Technology Accelerator

Rex Richards Building, South Parks Road, Oxford Grade 7: Salary in the range £32,817 - £40,322 per annum

We are looking for well organised and self-motivated scientists, with the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project, to identify research objectives and to carry out appropriate research activities within a given timescale, demonstrating the ability to work co-operatively with colleagues in an extremely fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment.

Reporting to Prof. Mauro Pasta. The post holder is a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research for the LiSTAr (Li-Sulfur Technology AcceleRation). This programme brings together seven leading universities (UCL, Imperial, Oxford, Nottingham, Cambridge, Southampton and Surrey) with multi-disciplinary strengths across a range of themes, to tackle and overcome key challenges in the development and deployment of next generation LiS batteries.

We are looking for researchers with expertise, proven by a strong publication record, in the following areas:

• batteries, in particular Li-metal anodes in liquid and solid electrolytes

• solution and solid-state electrochemistry (i.e. galvanostatic, potentiostatic and voltammeric techniques. EIS)

• solid state materials chemistry

• materials characterization including advanced imaging (i.e. FIB/SEM and TEM, spectroscopy and sample preparation) and X-ray techniques (i.e. XRD, XPS)
