美国加州大学劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室(LBNL)合成生物学方向士后职位

SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY – ENZYME EVOLUTION AND DESIGN POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR

Job Description

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's (LBNL) Environmental Genomics & Systems Biology(EGSB) has an immediate opening for Postdoctoral Fellow to join Yoshikuni Group.

The Berkeley Lab's Environmental Genomics & Systems Biology (EGSB) mission is to link genome biology to ecosystem dynamics by tailoring systems-level models using integrated molecular observation and controlled manipulation of model organisms to design and test interventions that promote sustainable solutions to energy and environments.

In this position, you will be working in the Yoshikuni Group for developing a function database of all aminotransferases found in several energy crops and to build predictive models for the function of these aminotransferases. Successful delivery of this project will allow to improve our understanding of plant nitrogen fluxes and may enable improving sustainable growth of crops. Additionally, we can potentially provide synthetic biology communities a collection of aminotransferases for production of renewable chemicals and medicines.

What You Will Do:

  Design and build expression constructs.

  Site-directed saturation mutagenesis.

  Protein expression and purification.

  Biochemical characterization of enzyme function (e.g. specific activity, steady-state kinetics.

  Homology protein structural modeling.

  Pfam analysis.

  Multiple sequence alignment.

  Tree/sequence similarity network construction and analysis.

  Co-evolution analysis.

  Build a predictive model.

  RNAseq analysis.

What is Required:

  Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, and Chemical Engineering.

  Ability to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment.

  Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  Experience in molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis).

  Experience in biochemical characterization of enzymes (protein purification, specific activity, steady-state kinetics).

  Sequence-based enzyme analysis (e.g., BLAST, pfam search, Multiple Sequence Alignment, tree construction, visualization)

  Structure-based enzyme analysis (e.g., pymol, ROSETTA)

The posting shall remain open until the position is filled.

Notes:

  This is a full-time - 1 year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing the availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 2 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.

  M-F, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.

  This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.

  Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.

  This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.
