  Department SummaryThe Computer and Information Science Department in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Computer and Information Science; instruction is provided by 16 tenure track faculty, 2 emeritus faculty, and 6 career instructor faculty. The department serves approximately 600 undergraduate and 90 graduate majors, as well as offering a number of general education classes in the discipline. The primary research foci of the tenure track faculty are high-performance computing, data science, networking, and distributed systems with cross-cutting concerns of security and privacy.

  Position Summary The Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Oregon occasionally hires Research Assistants, Research Associates, and Post Doctorals to assist with grant-supported research. Positions are temporary or part-time for one term (ten weeks) or multiple-terms, not to exceed one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years, at the discretion of the hiring authority and taking into consideration need, funding and/or performance.

  Minimum RequirementsSuccessful Research Assistant applicants must have a B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field and will be conducting research under the direction of a faculty member for the purpose of acquiring research training.

  Successful Research Associate applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field and will receive only general guidance while conducting research.

  Successful Post Doctoral applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field; these are mentored research positions at the time of appointment, an articulated program of mentoring with an identified mentor will be part of the hiring contract.
