  Job Description

  Summary

  A postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the Yau Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

  Job Purpose

  Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.

  The lab studies the integration of sensory information over time and space. The primary work for this position is aimed at understanding the effects of attention on neural representations in the somatosensory cortical system. Techniques employed in the laboratory include neurophysiology recording, neuroimaging, noninvasive brain stimulation, computational modeling, and psychophysics.

  Job Duties

  ·         Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.

  ·         Evaluates and analyzes data.

  ·         May establish new research protocols and procedures.

  ·         Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.

  ·         May be responsible for laboratory operations.

  ·         May supervise research staff.

  Minimum Qualifications

  ·         Education Required: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

  ·         Experience Required: None Required.

  ·         Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.

  Preferred Qualifications

  We are looking for an applicant with a strong background in neurophysiology methods, neuroimaging, experience with animal training/behavior, or computational modeling. Strong technical skills are required and high competence in programming is especially desirable. Experience with somatosensory studies is preferable. Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, or a related discipline.
