  Job Description

  Summary

  A postdoctoral position is now open in the laboratory group of Dr. John P. Lydon, Department of Molecular Biology, Baylor College of Medicine. The Lydon group's overall research interest is to identify and characterize key molecular signals that are critical for sex steroid hormone regulation of uterine biology during the peri-implantation period. Our group uses state-of-the-art mouse models, advanced cell culture systems, and powerful genome-wide analytics in our investigative studies, with an emphasis also on parallel collaborations with our clinical colleagues in reproductive medicine.

  Job Duties

  ·         Independently design and conduct projects

  ·         Mammalian reproduction (particularly uterine biology)

  ·         Mouse handling

  ·         Conduct modern statistical approaches/bioinformatics

  ·         Basic biology skills (molecular cloning, isolation and analysis of protein, DNA and RNA and cell culture)

  ·         Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments

  ·         Evaluates and analyzes data

  ·         May establish new research protocols and procedures

  ·         Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals

  ·         May be responsible for laboratory operations

  ·         May supervise research staff

  Minimum Qualifications

  ·         Education Required: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

  Preferred Qualifications

  The successful candidate will be a recent PhD graduate who is self-motivated with a strong work ethic, creative and open to address new research challenges. Apart from having strong oral and written communication skills, the fellow is expected to independently design and conduct projects under the supervision of Dr. Lydon. Candidates with a strong background in the following areas are encouraged to apply: mammalian reproduction (particularly uterine biology), mouse handling skills, and modern statistical approaches/bioinformatics. Also expertise in basic biology skills (molecular cloning, isolation and analysis of protein, DNA and RNA and cell culture) is preferred.
