英国医学研究委员会毒理学组(MRC)分子与细胞生物学博士后招聘

MRCPostdoctoral Fellow

Department/Location:MRCToxicology Unit, Cambridge

Salary: £32,236-£39,609

Reference: PU20377

Closing date: 19 September 2019

Advert text:

The MRC Toxicology Unit is an internationally renowned institution focussed on the delivery of field-changing mechanistic insights into toxicology and disease. The Unit is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offers excellent opportunities for postdoctoral development. The Unit is part of the University of Cambridge, it is currently located at Leicester and will physically relocate to Cambridge in October 2020.

We are looking to appoint an MRC Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Professor Willis to carry out research into the post-transcriptional, molecular pathways triggered by exposure to toxic fibres that leads to mesothelioma.

The aim of the project is to generate a detailed adverse outcome/toxicity pathway which fully describes in molecular terms the changes which lead to the development of Mesothelioma following exposure of mice to CNTs with different aspect-ratios and chemically-modified fibres. In the longer term, this information will be used to obtain novel biomarkers of exposure to monitor workers in facilities which use/produce CNTs including low and middle income countries, LMICS. The Project will identify the changes in the RNA-interactome following exposure to nanofibres that leads to the development of mesothelioma (Chernova et al 2017). A range of high through put techniques will be used including RNA-interactome capture, OOPS (recently co-developed by the Willis lab; Queiroz et al 2019) and ribosome profiling and iCLIP/

(Chernova et al 2017, Current Biology DOI: 10.1016/j.cub.2017.09.007; Queiroz et al 2019, Nat Biotechnol. doi: 10.1038/s41587-019-0161-8).

This is a three-year training and development position. We support postdoctoral scientists in these positions with a range of formal and on-the-job training to ensure you receive the training relevant to your role and identify additional training to help support your future career.

Applicants must have (or be in the final stages of receiving) a higher degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline and have experience in molecular and cell biology. Experience in RNA biology, cancer cell biology and working with animal models is desirable. The ability to publish high quality research in a peer reviewed journal; to be able to work both independently and as part of a team, together with excellent communication and problem solving skills are required.
