  Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Infectious & Inflammatory Disease

  The Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT) is an internationally recognized leader in biomedical and health science research located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX, with strengths in Infectious Disease, Epigenetics, Cancer/Stem Cell Biology, and Environmental Health. The Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world’s largest medical complex, is at the forefront of advancing life sciences. IBT is part of the Gulf Coast Consortium, which affords multiple opportunities for career development and collaboration with TMC institutions, such as University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Methodist Research Institute.

  We are seeking highly skilled and motivated candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position in mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, chemical genetics and protein biochemistry in the laboratory of Dr. Julian Hurdle (jhurdle@ibt.tamhsc.edu), Center for Infectious & Inflammatory Diseases.

  This position provides broad training to develop independent, highly motivated scientists in an outstanding collaborative research environment that integrates basic and translational sciences. This position will conduct independent research relating to bacterial mechanisms of resistance and discovery and characterization of cellular mechanisms targeted by new anti-infective molecules, using multi-omics, molecular genetics and protein biophysical and biochemical approaches.

  Qualifications and Experience:

  ·         An appropriate doctoral degree is required. A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related science is preferred.

  ·         Experience with protein purification, biochemical/biophysical protein characterization, molecular biology, proteomics and genomics is preferred.

  ·         Knowledge in cellular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial discovery and cellular biology is preferred.

  This position will provide a unique and multidisciplinary exposure of microbiology, infectious diseases, genomics, clinical translation, drug discovery, cellular biology, and chemical genetics.
