　　Job Description

　　The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. We are seeking an outstanding candidate interested in immunoengineering research to develop new therapeutics for type-1 diabetes. In specific, the candidate will focus on conducting mechanistic studies in vitro and in vivo to identify the role of chemokine local expression and lymphoid stromal cells in regulating autoimmune responses in murine models of type-1 diabetes. In parallel, the candidate will develop and evaluate in vitro and in vivo hydrogels for local delivery of chemokines and protein/peptide antigens. The ideal applicant should have significant expertise in immunology of autoimmune diseases, cell and molecular biology and experience with murine models of human diseases. Experience in hydrogel biomaterials and in type-1 diabetes will be a plus.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　PhD in immunology or pharmacology or biomedical engineering with experience in performing in vitro and in vivo (mice) assays for the measurement of immunological responses and a strong publication record. In-depth expertise in cellular, molecular biology basic techniques, including flow cytometry and hydrogel biomaterials and experience with murine models of human disease. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English), good interpersonal and organizational skills, orderly laboratory habits and manual dexterity, attention to detail and accuracy, and willingness to work with murine specimens (blood, tissues, cell-lines).
