　　Job Description

　　A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in the lab of Dr. Stavros Stavrakis (co-mentored by Dr. Mary Beth Humphrey) to study molecular mechanisms by which vagal nerve stimulation improves heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Studies include use of a high salt diet-induced model of HFpEF in rats. We will be immunophenotyping cardiac and splenic myeloid cells and T cells from this model and test for the functional role of these immune cell subsets during the development of HFpEF. Further studies will investigate the changes in these immune cells in response to vagal nerve stimulation in the model.

　　Candidate should have a Ph.D. with experience in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, or biochemistry. Experience with mammalian cell culture, recombinant DNA technology, cellular signaling and rodent models of disease are preferred. Candidate must be able to plan and perform experiments in an independent manner with appropriate supervision, have excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Candidate will also be responsible for writing papers, protocols and lab reports associated with this project. Highly motivated individuals who wish to develop careers as independent scientists are encouraged to apply.
