  Job Description

  Overview

  The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is a world-renowned Harvard-affiliated institution that brings together the most outstanding researchers and clinicians with the common mission of conquering cancer. The Kircher lab recently moved from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Ample wet and dry lab space is available in DFCI's Molecular Cancer Imaging Facility (MCIF) and its adjacent Lurie Family Imaging Center (LFIC), with additional wet lab space in the main campus building. The LCIF is equipped with the full range of preclinical imaging devices (7T MRI, integrated micro-PET/SPECT/CT, bioluminescence, ultrasound, x-ray irradiation), while the MCIF building also houses a cyclotron and an MSOT inVision 512-echo optoacoustic imaging device. A new state-of-the art LabRam Odyssey Raman imaging system will be installed in the summer. In addition, there are ample opportunities for collaborations with the other Harvard Institutions and MIT.

  Responsibilities

  We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a scientific background applicable to the development of nanotechnology imaging agents. The Kircher lab specializes in developing cutting-edge molecular imaging and theranostic approaches for precision cancer detection and therapy. The lab focuses on next generation “Surface Enhanced Resonant Raman Spectroscopy” (SERRS) approaches. We develop next generation SERRS nanoparticles, and also novel Raman detection and tumor ablation devices. We also incorporate whole body imaging techniques (MRI, PET, CT) and therapeutic abilities into the nanoimaging agent platforms. The lab is interested in both the development of new theranostic approaches on a fundamental level and the clinical translation of select agents. The ideal start time for the position is flexible but ideally would be early to mid-summer 2019. We are looking for candidates who have at least 2 years of availability. The successful candidate will receive an appointment at Harvard Medical School.

  Qualifications

  The candidate should have:

  • A PhD in the field of nanotechnology or a related field such as chemistry or molecular imaging

  • A strong interest in developing novel molecular imaging agents

  • Demonstrated record of achievements and publications

  • Excellent communication skills and team-building and collaborative abilities

  • Ability to perform mentored independent research and is encouraged to develop their own research ideas

  • Background in mathematics or IT applicable to image analysis is a plus (but not required)
